Do you want to learn how to study the Bible, I mean, REALLY study the Bible? If so, you've come to the right place. As I tell my students at Azusa Pacific University ( Azusa, California), if you learn how to study the Bible correctly, the Bible will explode with meaning. In these pages, I will share with you the inductive method of Bible study I use and teach, and I will model the method as well.

As I ask my students, so I ask you: Take 30 minutes a day and work your way systematically through a book of the Bible, and I believe you will be amazed at what you will learn. You may not discover life-transforming truths every day, but you will build a strong foundation of understanding that will gradually reap enormous rewards. Bible study is not a marathon. It's a journey. Avoid the temptation of enslavement to the immediate, and plan to build a strong foundation of Biblical and spiritual understanding.

Think about how you learned high school algebra or any other subject. You didn't learn it over night. Rather, you began on page one of your textbook, capturing concepts and then doing exercises to apply those concepts. Then you went on to page two . . . . So it is with the study of the Bible. On these pages you will learn a step-by-step procedure you can use for any book of the Bible -- and any other book for that matter.

The Bible is the most amazing book in the world with the most amazing collection of 66 books. The Word of God is self authenticating; it shows itself to be the Word of God, but only when it is appropriately studied. I once thought that I could understand the whole Bible in my lifetime. I now know that's impossible. The Bible is an endless river of spiritual understanding. So, I take this approach to the study of the Bible: Since I cannot understand all 66 books, I will endeavor to know some of the books well. If I cannot have great breadth of understanding, then I will endeavor to have depth of understanding; I will spend considerable time in a book, gleaning all that I can from its pages.
